I was so blown away by what she wrote below that I went against my long standing personal policy of not following my students on Twitter.

'LiveMinutes is a very cool app that integrates with Evernote (my all time favorite and most used app) and allows you to work on the same Evernote note with others, similar to Google Docs. Evernote is an excellent app, with the ability to share notes with others, but there is not a collaboration piece until this app came along. You go to LiveMinutes and create a work space and select the notes from your Evernote account that you want to collaborate on, share them with others and off you go.

'I have been asked to elaborate on my understanding of the SAMR model, a model written about extensively by Dr. Ruben Puentedura. This model suggests a structure for the design of embedded technology use in the classroom to have a significant impact on student outcomes. My feeling is this model supports teachers as they design, develop, and integrate digital learning experiences that utilize technology to transform learning experiences.

'What if we let students design their own schools? That''s exactly the question that was explored with The Independent Project. The program provides a model that empowers students to design and learn in their own school. The project was proposed by students. Their principal agreed to allow students to create and attend this school within a school located Monument Mountain Regional High School, a public school in Massachusetts.

'Google has an excellent selection of free courses and training materials for Google Apps and more. ( see a bunch here). They have just announced 5 new online courses for teachers and administrators on Google for Education that were designed by educators. New Courses include: Internet 101, Apps for Education, Gmail, Drive, Chrome and Chromebooks. They are self paced and well designed.

'Voki is a free web 2.0 tool used to create talking avatars. Characters can be customized to look like historical figures, animals, cartoons, and even one''s self. For a fee, users can join Voki Classroom for more access to options and the ability to control privacy settings. Vokis are limited to 60 second recordings of either a user''s voice or a computer generated voice, so I use Voki for quick assignments or part of a larger project.

'Google just announced Google Connected Classroom s , which allows classes to take virtual field trips using Google+ Hangouts. Field Trip locations include the Seattle Aquarium, Minnesota Zoo, American Museum of Natural History, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and more. More trips are coming also. The field trips are live hosted events, but past events are archived and can be viewed later.

'Introduction : What goes into the introduction may vary stylistically depending on length, discipline, and purpose. However, a good introduction will allow the reader to decide if they want to continue reading. When you have been asked to revise the introduction, the first thing you need to determine is was this the result of your writing not being focused or clear enough or is this the reviewer wanting you to change direction or refocus your paper?
This white paper examines and proposes revisions to the "Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education" introduced by Arthur Chickering and Zelda Gamson in 1987 for today's technology-driven world.

'Tab Scissors and Tab Glue are two extensions to use for quickly splitting your tabbed browser windows into groups and "gluing" browser windows back together. As a teacher who has to transfer grades from my Edmodo gradebook to my district gradebook, both extensions save me time minimizing and sizing windows. Anything that I need to do using split screens can be done more efficiently with Tab Scissors and Tab Glue.

'It''s Edublog awards time! The 10th Annual Edublog awards are once again a reminder to the districts of the power of the Capitol, and how they must never rebel against their country again. Oh wait, that''s The Hunger Games. They are on my mind this weekend for some reason. The Edublog awards are an effort to "promote and demonstrate the educational value of social media," particularly as some school districts block blogs and Twitter.

'I haven''t posted much recently about Brody and decided it was time to share some recent pictures from school. Brody is in his 8th year as a therapy dog, and whether it is greeting visitors during my morning hall duty or sleeping while I teach, he is right at home. We even get our yearbook picture taken together. He has become such a fixture over the years that most people greet him instead of me.

'This past week, I had the pleasure to formally observe one of our terrific high school teachers, Rebecca Cohen, using blended learning in the classroom (thanks to our BOLD, blended online day schools grant). Rebecca full utilized a rotational model embedded in our blended learning classroom. Students were divided into three major groups. One group worked on the computers utilizing gradpoint to pinpoint information on enzymatic reactions.

'Tellagami is a mobile app that lets users create a short animated video using any mobile device. This is a cool tool for BYOD students and teachers to use for animated project videos. In three easy steps, users create a "Gami" animated avatar by customizing their character, selecting a background image, adding dialogue, and sharing it. Once you have the app, there is no account log in information to worry about.
