We are thrilled to share that Governor Bill Walker and the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) launched the Alaska K-12 Broadband Initiative today. In addition, approximately 123 schools still need access to scalable technology infrastructure , such as fiber.

100 kbps per student may have been sufficient bandwidth when there were only 520 students and few devices, but as the student population and technology use grew, so did the district’s need for more robust broadband. Merritt can now rely on Internet access throughout the school without having to worry about the signal dropping.
